Mr. Reed Update - Mar 1, 2022

Hello Parents and Guardians,

It is hard to believe that it's March already. Here are some updates for the week: 

1.       SCC Meeting tomorrow.  For the remaining four meetings, we have decided to push the start time to 6:30pm.  Here is the link:  https://meet.google.com/udi-jecp-bci
 

2.       Fun Fridays.  March 4 = PJ Day.  March 11 = Wear Green Day.
 

3.       Little Caesar's Pizza Kit Fundraiser.  Your orders must be picked up on Wednesday, March 9.

4.       March Break starts after school on March 11.  Students return to class on March 21.

5.       The March Newsletter went home today. (One copy per household)

6.       Loaned Technology.  We are now requesting that all loaned technology be returned to the school.  In the days to come, Mrs. Restrick and I will call home with reminders.

7.        Homework Club.  Ms. Baxter is happy to announce Homework club is starting back up! The day will be changing to Mondays from 3:10-4:00. Reminder Homework club is for completing unfinished work from class and students need to come prepared with something to work on. The advantage of homework club is Ms. Baxter can help when questions arise. 

8.       Home Reading Program.  Mary Street is happy to have started a home reading program. Each student Gr. 1-6 now has a book bag with a leveled book for them to read. Every day they will have the opportunity to switch out the book for a new one. Students can read to anyone but will require a signature to have their book exchanged. The goal is to encourage reading at home, while working on bumping up levels! students have the opportunity to win prizes for getting points for their House League as a bonus!

9.       House League.  Mary Street is proud and excited to welcome the Mary Street Phoenix House Leagues! Each student has been put into one of the 5: Yellow- Zeus, the leader of the sky; Blue- Poseidon, the leader of the sea; Purple- Athena, the leader of wisdom; Red- Apollo the leader of Healing and Green- Artemis the leader of nature. The students will work together to gain house points and each month we will draw prizes from the points received. Ask your child what house they are in!

10.   Leadership jobs have started back up! Students in all grades will have the opportunity to apply for a job of interest, interview, train and start their job! This encourages teamwork, belonging and a sense of accomplishment here at school every day.
