About Us

Our school is a part of Durham District School Board (DDSB).  Mary Street Community School exists in downtown Oshawa.  It is part of the DDSB.  Our K-8 school focuses on developing student leadership, as well as innovation and technology skills, in a high expectations, high support, collaborative environment.  Our school motto is Rise Up!   Our School Handbook is located here!

Our current logo is the Phoenix.  As a community, we face many barriers and challenges that need to be overcome. A Phoenix will always RISE UP when faced with adversity. Resiliency, strength, unbreakable spirit and will-power are common words associated with a Phoenix.  A Phoenix can never be beaten.  It may burn to ashes, especially in difficult times of adversity, where it may seem like it cannot recover, but a Phoenix always comes back again and renews itself, often stronger than before.  A Phoenix intentionally chooses to push through challenging barriers, instead of just accepting them.  The fire within a Phoenix is always stronger than the fires of adversity surrounding it.  It is because of this we choose the Phoenix as our new logo.  For more information about our programming, please contact us.
